Individual Percussions Lessons-Taylor

Individual Music Lessons -
Music Lessons 23-24

Individual music lessons are an essential part of any musician's growth. Offering instruction on a wide variety of instruments, our program features over 30 of the best private lesson instructors the Chicago area has to offer. Lessons are offered at all six high schools during the school day for district students and weekdays after school for non-district students and adults.

New students must contact us first for a consultation and to schedule a trial lesson. Only returning students may register for lessons online. For an Individual Lesson consultation or to register for a (paid) trial lesson, call us at 847-718-7700 or email us at ce@d214.org.

Raychel Taylor

Raychel Taylor is an educator, performer, and arts entrepreneur in northern Illinois. Motivated by her passion to provide young female percussionists with direct access to female mentorship, Raychel created “Girls March,” an organization that advocates for women in the marching arts. Her vision is realized through music and leadership seminars with some of the most influential women in the activity. Raychel is the Director of Percussion at Prospect High School, teaches private lessons, instructs front ensembles and drumlines, and is often a clinician or judge for events such as marching band competitions and Percussive Arts Society (PAS) Days of Percussion. She is also a performing member of berimbau sextet Arcomusical.

Additionally, Raychel has experience working with youth orchestras in different capacities. She taught the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra percussion ensembles and then served in an administrative role for the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra. Raychel now serves as the Percussion Manager for the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America, a Carnegie Hall Weill Music Institute program.

Raychel’s drum corps experience includes the Sacramento Mandarins, Phantom Regiment (earning a Fred Sanford Award for High Percussion that year), and Santa Clara Vanguard.

Raychel holds Bachelor of Music degrees in Percussion Performance and Music Theory from the University of North Texas and a Master of Music degree from Northern Illinois University. She now serves on the PAS Diversity Alliance and is an Educational Artist for Dynasty USA, Innovative Percussion Inc., and Remo Drumheads.
